Just watched this Classic with my boys who are roughly the same age as I was when I saw it in the theatre with my bro. There were a lot of ‘hit’ movies in the 80’s that came and went, but Robert Mark Kamen’s ‘Karate Kid’ is written with such lean precision that it easily stands the test of time some 40 years later. Although I watched this Masterpiece a lot growing up, I somehow enjoyed (and appreciate) it even more this time around. Not only is it a perfect balance of honest action and adolescent drama, it also gave my children a newfound insight into the mystical importance of doing their chores.
